L-9 is the East Troy Electric Railroad’s front line freight locomotive. Shorter than its L-8 mate, it is called upon for hauling trains of hundred-ton hoppers and lumber flats, as well as the fifty cars of ballast the line received in the 1996-97 track rehabilitation project. It is rendered in the East Troy Electric Railroad colors of red and silver. It spent the first part of its life shunting coal hoppers at Lakeside Power Plant for Wisconsin Electric Power Company before it was donated to East Troy.
