The East Troy Depot (2002 Church Street, East Troy, WI) is the perfect place to begin your journey into the past at the East Troy Railroad Museum! Our Depot is housed in the former substation, which supplied power to the electric interurban railway and the Village of East Troy in the 20th Century. The building was completed in 1910 and was based on neo-Egyptian designs. Outside, there is free parking and picnic tables for your use as you watch our trains come and go. Inside, there is a museum, gift shop, and restroom facilities. The Depot is open on operating days.

About the MuseumCountless historical artifacts are available for viewing in the East Troy Depot. The small museum is housed where five rotary converters once sat. These used to convert alternating-current power into direct-current electricity needed for powering fast interurban cars. The single remaining converter and the control panel and transformer piece located adjacent to it have been cosmetically restored for viewing.
A large collection of detailed O-scale trolley and interurban cars are on display, many built by late ETRM volunteer Tom Matola. Other exhibits include an original Milwaukee Northern newspaper cart, and the story of several Wisconsin trolley systems and their unique artwork. There's even a scavenger hunt! |
