 About Us

What We Do

The East Troy Electric Railroad was once part of a 36-mile electric interurban rail line between East Troy and Milwaukee built in 1907 by The Milwaukee Electric Railway and Light Company. In 1939, the last seven miles between East Troy and Mukwonago became the only municipality-owned electric freight railway in the nation until purchased by the Friends of East Troy Railroad Museum, Inc. in 1995.

Today, the East Troy Electric Railroad has 30 pieces of equipment with over 500 members worldwide, 110 active volunteers and almost 25,000 visitors each year! With your support, we can fulfill our mission to keep the interurban railroad history alive for generations to come
