Taking the Ride

The East Troy Electric Railroad Museum's basic passenger ride, apart from Dinner Trains and charters, is the ten-mile round trip from the East Troy Depot at 2002 Church Street to our Elegant Farmer Station Stop adjacent to the Elegant Farmer Farm Store located at the intersection of County Highways ES and J south of Mukwonago.  You can see the layout on the Line Map, which you can print out and bring with.

The actual running time is twenty minutes in each direction, with a twenty- or twenty-five minute layover at either end, for a total of a little over an hour.  See the Schedule page.

Through most of the season, we only have one ticket agent on duty at a time.  You can still begin your ride at either end, though.   If there is only the one agent at East Troy, you may still board at the Elegant Farmer Station, ride to East Troy to where the agent is, and we'll only be punching tickets going the other direction.

During the busier Fall Fun Days, there will be a second agent at the Elegant Farmer Station.

If there's more than one car running the day of your visit, you may ride either as you wish, even taking one going one way and the other, the other.

At the East Troy end, in addition to the gift shop and museum displays in the Depot building, most trips include a two-block run down to the East Troy Shop, where the restoration of the cars takes place.  Plus, this is your opportunity to see the other cars that aren't in use at the time of your visit.  We invite you to look inside and all over at the equipment and projects; after all, that's what a museum is for.

There's always a volunteer handy to show you around and answer questions- just ask.  That's why we're here.

When you do visit, please remember that this is real, live railroad and basic, common-sense safety precautions should always be observed:   Always expect train movements on any track at any time from any direction; don't step on the rails or run; pay attention to volunteer staffers for special notices. Thanks for your consideration.

Groups and Charters are welcome at the railroad. If you have a group and would like to ride, discounts and special charter times are available. Please send mail to charters for information.
