L-6 awaits its next task on the runaround track in East Troy

One of the most unique cars you might see, L-6 is half a flat car deck and half a carbody unit, with a three-ton crane on the open deck and a huge air compressor in the body, making this a vital piece of maintenance-of-way equipment. Trackwork may be its primary role, but the crane is in almost constant use moving materiel, and the compressor serves as the air supply for many of the larger air tools. L-6 is also equipped with a weed-spraying system for both spraybar and point-spray use. As simple to operate as a streetcar, its sheer handiness always keeps it hard at work.
