Two more South Shore Line coaches arrive in East Troy

13and21

Chicago, South Shore & South Bend coaches 13 and 21 arrive from Indiana, pushed by locomotive L-8.
Saturday, December 19th, 1998.

The photo was taken as the train crossed County Highway J at the Elegant Farmer station.

Donated by the Indiana Park Service, 21 and 13 are extended, non-air-conditioned CSS&SB coaches from 1927.  In generally good condition, they were moved over several railroads on their own wheels during a long trip from Michigan City, Indiana.

Car 13 was given a refurbishment, and, with its original pans still in place, is in occasional passenger service on the East Troy line.  A bus jumper on the roof is used to pass the trolley current to the car's motors and appliances.

Car 21 has been partly refurbished and is used as a Shop office car.
