And Down Under, there's the Ballarat Vintage Tramway.  Wonder if they put the positive in the rails and the negative through the wire, there, like reversing the seasons...

Pay them a visit and help support rail heritage preservation.

Also, we encourage you to look into the sites of these other outstanding organizations:

The 20th Century Railroad Club organizes a wide variety of memorable rail-based excursions.  312-829-4500
A membership includes being able to view Amtrak's Chicago coach yard from their "Skybox for Railfans."

Our neighbor, Farmer Dan, makes the best dang apple pies on the planet.  Plus, he and his people entertain thousands of our patrons every season with the activities he has at his wonderful farm market, The Elegant Farmer, which is, of course, right next to our Elegant Farmer Station near Mukwonago.    And even after all that, he's a great guy.   Stop by the store and find out... I guarantee you won't find better pie or nicer people anywhere.

Our friends from the WISE Division, NMRA, Inc. run the spectacular TrainFest event every November at State Fair Park in Milwaukee.  Model layouts of incredible complexity and detail fill two huge buildings.  This is a must-see.
Not only that, these wonderful folks have donated most generously to the Friends of East Troy Railroad Museum and deserve all the support that you can give them.

The Shore Line Historical Society publishes the superb First and Fastest magazine featuring Chicago-area electrics past and present.

The Milwaukee Convention and Visitors Bureau invites you to visit the Genuine American City.

The Chicago Railfan and Transit Website is a comprehensive look at the regions' transportation primarily featuring, of course, electric rail.

Railway Preservation Resources has a website that keeps tabs on the vintage-type trolleys in the US.

Our neighbors to the southeast, the City of Kenosha, has opened a brand-new streetcar installation using PCC cars similar to the ones we operate.  The nycsubway site has set out a page for them: Kenosha Transit.

The Chicago Tunnel Company Railroad page: electrics without the daylight.

The East Troy Electric Railroad has two PCC streetcars; there's an informative PCC page at http://world.nycsubway.org/us/pcc/index.html

Your Site Administrator confesses to being a North Shore Line fan.  www.northshoreline.com is a great site for those of us who still await the sound of Greenliners tearing up the Skokie Valley Route.

A site with TMER&L photos (among many others) is Don's Depot.

Another is in the Dave's Railpix site.

Clara's Crossing has a large list of rail links.

The Electric Lines in Southern Ontario is an informative site with excellent pictures.  Best of all, they have a picture of ex-TMER&L 1136 in its Canadian second life.

Also from north of the border, the Toronto Transportation Society covers modern transit in that lovely city, former home of our TTC PCC 4617.

The Philadelphia Trolley Coalition is working to make modern electrics serve the public.

A vital part of the East Troy line's history is the connection with the Soo Line; see the Soo Line Historical Society site.

And there's more Soo at Soo Line Online.

El Paso, Texas has streetcars once again.

The Mad River & NKP Railroad Society Museum has a page.

Railfan & Railroad Magazine

The California Trolley & Railroad Corporation is in the Santa Clara area.

Do you think you should be able to ride a train into Green Bay or Madison?  WisARP does.

If you're interested in interurbans, there's one left: The Chicago, South Shore, & South Bend Railroad.  Their parent agency is the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District.  Then, get there and get an 80-mph ride past the dunes.

And if you really like trolleys, the ultimate one in this country runs from Washington through Philadelphia and New York to Boston.  Amtrak's Northeast Corridor positively hauls- 125 mph.  And, they're kicking it up to 150 in 2000.  The feeling of a great electric like an AEM-7 opening up at 75 is hard to beat.  To see what an electric railroad transportation can really do in America, check Amtrak.
